About UsINTRODUCTION Nkroful Receptive Facility also known as the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Receptive Facility was commissioned on October 30, 2004 and handed over to the Ghana Tourist Development Company Ltd for the day-to-day management of the facility. SUPERVISING OFFICER In line with internal arrangement of the Company, each facility is to have a Supervising Officer from Head Office who will be in charge of managing the affairs of the facility. MANAGEMENT BOARD A Management Board was formed and inaugurated the very day the facility was commissioned. STAFF Management has employed two indigenes from Nkroful who are directly responsible for the day-to-day running of the facility. The staff are well-trained to offer customers the best service they may require. |
PARTS OF THE FACILITY 1. ORIGINAL BURIAL PLACE The original burial place of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is right at the centre of the facility. The burial place is well furnished, and very attractive. His final words have also been engraved on a tablet at the burial place. There is also a torch to represent what the first president of Ghana believed in. 2. REPLICA OF ORIGINAL HOME The facility also has the replica of the original home of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's family. Tourists have the opportunity to see and relate with where Nkrumah started his life from. 3. REPLICA OF ORIGINAL KITCHEN The replica of the original kitchen is situated near the burial place. This is the kitchen Nyaniba (Nkrumah's mother) used. 4. MUSEUM AND LIBRARY There is also a museum to collect and store some of the items Dr. Nkrumah used whiles he was still alive. You will find some of the remains of his items at the museum. The Library is also set up to collect Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's writings, biography and autobiography. 5. RIVER SUBRE There is a river about 5 minutes' walk from the facility. It is believed that it was in this river Nkrumah as a baby prompted his mother of a tilapia she had stepped on whiles going to the farm across the river. 6. SOUVENIR SHOP The souvenir shop contains some of the books and CDs of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's speeches. Customers can buy such staff from the shop. 7. RECREATIONAL GROUND There is a recreational ground to enable customers have fun after touring the facility. The Table Tennis board and the Volley ball court allow tourists to freshen up after what may seem like a long tour. |
